T-Mobile Announces Sidekick 4G Manufactured By Samsung

Before Microsoft bought Sidekick company Danger, the platform had a lot of momentum and potential. Afterwards however, things dwindled down. Hardware became stale, software was rather plain compared to the latest competitors, and the devices themselves were still rather large. But even though Danger-based Sidekicks are no more, Samsung and T-Mobile have a treat for customers still wanting a Sidekick-shaped device — The Android powered Sidekick 4G.

Built by Samsung, this new age Sidekick packs in modern hardware such as 1GHz Hummingbird processor, HSPA+ (21Mbps) support, 3.5″ tilting display, 5-row qwerty keyboard, and Android 2.2. Also on board are numerous included apps such as Facebook and Twitter, DriveSmart (prevents texting while driving), and many other cloud apps aimed to re-invent the Sidekick brand.
Price is not known as of writing, though availability is slated for “late spring” in matte black or “pearl magenta”. Anyone getting Sidekick fever again?

Samsung Galaxy S Pro - Full QWERTY keyboard And 2.8-Inch Touchscreen

Samsung has announced a new Android smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Pro, and while we’ve grown used to seeing the company’s near-endless variants on the Galaxy S family, the Pro dips a toe in as a QWERTY candybar. Already confirmed as headed to UK carrier Three “soon”, the Galaxy Pro has a 2.8-inch 320 x 240 touchscreen above a physical keyboard, along with a 3-megapixel fixed-focus camera

There’s also WiFi and an 800MHz processor running Android 2.2.1 Froyo. Samsung’s TouchWiz interface – seemingly modified to suit the landscape orientation screen – and Social Hub Premium are loaded. The whole thing measures 108 .6 x 66.7 x 10.6 mm and will come with a 2GB microSD and WiFi hotspot sharing support.
No word on pricing at this stage, but we’re assuming – given the CPU and relatively low resolution camera – that the Galaxy Pro will be a reasonably affordable device. If it’s a hit in Europe, we’re also guessing Samsung will look to bring the Galaxy Pro to the North American market.

Apple Releases iOS 4.3 Ahead of Schedule

Apple has released iOS 4.3 a few days ahead of schedule for iPhone 4 (GSM only) and 3GS, iPad, and 4th-generation iPod touch. The update, which comes via iTunes, brings with it the personal hotspot feature carried over from the Verizon (CDMA) iPhone, the ability to stream video and photos to an Apple TV via AirPlay, HD video out, and more.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs outlined the basic iOS 4.3 feature set during Apple's iPad 2 media event last week, many of which are mentioned in Wednesday's release notes for the update. In addition to what we mentioned above, the update also brings iTunes Home Sharing to iOS devices, allowing users to stream movies, TV, and music from a computer running iTunes 10.2 to an iOS device—a highly anticipated feature that will reduce the need to manually sync media to the device.
The update also brings faster Safari performance, push notifications and parental controls for Ping (remember Ping?), the ability to set the number of times you're alerted when new text messages arrive, the screen rotation lock setting on the iPad, and unspecified bug fixes.
Although this update landed earlier than the quoted March 11 deadline (when the iPad 2 will be available to customers), it is still not available to those using the Verizon iPhone. An Apple representative told us after the iPad 2 announcement that iOS 4.3 won't be coming to the Verizon iPhone anytime soon because it had just launched, but that the OS versions will likely converge sometime in the future.

New Wireless Electric Bicycle Can Charge Your iPhone - IPad

The battery takes about four hours to charge in a standard 110-volt outlet. It also integrates a USB port to charge an iPhone, iPad or any similar device while pedaling.
"This is a dream come true for all of us. From a paper design to commercial production, and over four years in development, it's unbelievable," said Yeg Baiocchi, Daymak's CEO. "We have finally reached the production phase of the Shadow Ebike."
Daymak said the first Shadow Ebikes will be available starting April 30 and cost $2,000.

Nokia C7 with T-Mobile 3G Support Revealed By FCC

Nokia T-Mobile

Following up, the FCC has also revealed the first images and details surrounding the US version of the Nokia C7. The version approved by the FCC features support for T-Mobile’s 3G bands as well as Symbian^3 along with a 3.5 inch capacitive touch display, microSD expansion slot, 8.0 megapixel camera with dual LED flash, 8GB of internal memory, Bluetooth and support for UMA. Neither T-Mobile nor Nokia have announced the phone at this time.
Nokia previously canceled the launch of the X7 US exclusive Symbian^3 smartphone due to a lack of confidence in AT&T’s ability to market the phone effectively and provide enough of a subsidy to draw customers to the phone. The launch of the C7 on T-Mobile would make it only the second Symbian^3 device to be launched in the US, following next month’s launch of the E7 by Nokia as an unlocked model.
